Those who have a forgiven heart would look back and glorify Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for pouring out his human kindness to Amaka Anajemba the same way Christ did in the Bible when He met a woman who was about to be stones for being unclean. In the Christ-like injunction, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi passed his injunction saying, “Woman, go and sin no more” but unlike Christ, he rewarded her with a highly demanding political appointment in the state.

Managing Director of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency (ESWAMA)

Those who always find everything Governor Ugwuanyi did in a bad light did not find this political appointment worthy. To them, there is more than meets the eye. They believe that the appointment of Anajemba as the Managing Director of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency (ESWAMA) by Governor Ugwuanyi is a way he is using to show appreciation and pay back for some significant job she did for the governor.

Whether the reason adduced by the latter is something to go by or thrown away, what we all know is that the appointment and continuous retention of Amaka Anajemba by Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration does not speak well of that State at the moment.

Ugwuanyi Should have compensated her behind the scene without bringing her to the forefront of politics. He should have allowed her to control the government on the sideline and not make her a director years after a court of competent jurisdiction convicted her in Nigeria.

After the completion of the heist, members of the gang started living lavish lifestyles as they had more than enough to spend and intimidate members of the public in the manner they pleased.

Amaka Anajemba and her husband bought houses in Nigeria and other parts of the world with their ill-gotten money. They had a substantial amount of their scam proceeds stored in the Swiss Bank.

After the conviction of Amaka Anajemba in July 2005 by Justice Olubunmi Oyewole of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, Amaka served her barely two and half years imprisonment and went into hiding.

Government Appointment

The Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led government in Enugu state, Nigeria did not consider the glaring records of Amaka Anajemba, they rewarded her with a juicy government appointment amidst public outcry.

Maybe the able governor saw something in her that every other Nigerian failed to see

Anajemba is in government and serving the people of Enugu at the beckon of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi today. Although the Enugu State governor gifted Anajemba a political appointment befitting her status, it is, however, an anomaly for a woman widely regarded as the “Queen of 419” to be the one keeping Enugu State clean.

Biography
